Everything we do within the Troy City School System focuses on improving the lives of our students through improved education options. We strive to build success in each and every student that walks through our school doors. Steps two and four in our strategic plan states we will:
Strengthen curriculum, instruction and assessment. This step calls for a complete diagnosis and upgrade of the tools, methods, and quality assurance aligned with teaching and learning at all levels within the System. Critical thinking, and enhanced programs tied to information technology will help build TCS's rank
to be in the top ten percent of all systems in the state by 2013.
Develop and grow TCS parental relationships. Troy City Schools strategic focus must be on engaging more members of the overall community in helping all of us better meet student needs. This begins with parents. By 2013 TCS parents will be significantly engaged in a variety of interrelated programs to increase their children’s probability of success throughout their lives. By 2013 TCS will be known as a system where parental partnership is second to none in the state of Alabama.
In addition, developing curriculum challenging "Pacing Guides" will provide scope and sequencing for planning and instruction, In addition we will create a unified assessment system that supports critical thinking skills in students. By combining these
items and creating an even more collaborative work environment we can provide more planning and professional development time to support excellence in instruction.
First and foremost we must increase academic
rigor and relevance in all TCS educational processes: planning,
teaching, testing. By doing this there is an increased assurance of
providing excellence in professional development centered on best
practices in teaching.
By supporting honors and advanced placement options, and
strengthening the use of educational technology, academic rigor
becomes a point of pride for Troy City Schools.
We build success in a variety of ways. We attempt to hire and train quality teachers, we attempt to provide a challenging curriculum that prepares students for life beyond the classroom. We work to maintain, improve, and build facilities that promote effective learning. We look for ways to increase school revenues so that we can re-invest this money back into our system and into the learning processes at each school.
We also attempt to build stronger partnerships with our community leaders. Working hand in hand, we build stronger communities. Education is a large part of this building process.
Hand-in-hand we constantly strive to create stronger relationships with the parents and guardians of our students. We want our parents and guardians to be actively involved in the education process of all students. We encourage each parent to be involved in the education of his or her children.
Please contact the school offices to find out more about PTO and how you can get involved.
